About Us

Indigo Octopus is the trading name for the Kent & Medway Trading Company, formed in 2005 to generate income for Age UK charities in Kent. This was achieved through the arranging of insurances tailored to meet the needs of older people, and the sale of other products designed with later life in mind.

Over time, the number of charities sharing ownership of the Trading Company decreased, until in August 2019, Age UK Medway took sole control, and the company’s head office moved to the Historic Dockyard in Chatham.

Shortly afterwards, in early 2020, the national Age UK charity closed its Trading Alliance network, bringing to an end the opportunity for Age UKs to earn income through the trading of insurance (although the independence-promoting products remain available!)  And so began the search for alternate ways the Company could generate the much needed unrestricted income for its parent charity, and the older people of Medway.

The sale of Daily Living Aids is a natural fit for Indigo Octopus. As a member of the Age UK Medway Group, we share the charity’s ethos, to help all older people Achieve Life’s Fullness. And we hope, amongst the wide range of products available on this site, there is a solution for everyone that can make a difference to their everyday life.
